Job Description
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a pioneering R&D division at the forefront of smart building innovation. This prestigious appointment calls for a refined engineering mindsomeone who blends systems-thinking with technological foresightto shape the future of intelligent infrastructure. You will be instrumental in developing and delivering bespoke automation and control solutions that redefine efficiency comfort and sustainability in high-performance environments.
Lead the conceptualization design and integration of advanced building automation technologies within a multidisciplinary ecosystem. Your mandate extends beyond technical execution you will influence the strategic evolution of next-generation smart infrastructure embedding innovation at the heart of every system you touch
Architect and implement highly integrated building systems including HVAC lighting access control and energy optimisation to form cohesive intelligent infrastructure platforms
Direct the systems engineering of automated construction technologies with a focus on high-precision robotics such as automated plastering mechanisms
Develop and maintain comprehensive systems documentation encompassing architectural diagrams interface schematics control workflows and integration protocols
Specify and orchestrate the seamless interplay of embedded devices sensors actuators and controllers across interconnected platforms
Design embedded logic and software architecture to underpin automation performance ensuring resilience scalability and responsiveness
Employ sophisticated simulation techniques to validate system dynamics optimise performance and ensure seamless deployment in complex environments
Oversee the prototyping lab configuration and full validation of systems rigorously testing functionality against design specifications and real-world constraints
Lead diagnostic evaluations and iterative refinement processes translating test data into elegant design improvements
Define meticulous installation and commissioning procedures ensuring flawless transitions from R&D to operational environments
Uphold elite quality standards through stringent quality assurance measures across all project phases
Collaborate fluidly with architects engineers and design specialists to integrate systems harmoniously into advanced built environments
Manage relationships with high-calibre external vendors consultants and contractors ensuring premium-quality project delivery
Continually scan the global landscape for emerging trends and technologies in smart infrastructure contributing strategic insight to innovation pipelines
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in systems engineering ideally within high-performance building automation smart infrastructure or precision robotics
Deep expertise in control systems architecture embedded hardware platforms communication protocols and automation logic
Strong track record of delivering bespoke integrated systems with an emphasis on reliability user experience and long-term operability
Advanced proficiency in software languages such as Python C or Java particularly within embedded or automation environments.
Skilled in the use of CAD BIM and simulation tools (e.g. AutoCAD Revit) with an aptitude for translating abstract requirements into elegant system designs
Articulate detail-oriented and intellectually curious with a passion for shaping the built environments of tomorrow
Qualification:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechatronics Engineering Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
