Director SA Retail CPG, AGS Technology

Amazon Web Services is looking for a senior technical leader with proven experience in strategic thought leadership and detailed execution to develop and grow teams of customer obsessed technical professionals who partner with customers to advise mentor and on-board production workloads to the cloud. As a member of the North America Solution Architect Leadership team you will develop and lead programs that enable teams of Solutions Architects to deliver the right guidance and technical content to support Enterprise customers in the US Retail & CPG industry.

You will help develop the industrys best cloud-based solutions architects team by enabling and coaching them on best practices solution selling presentation and speaking skills as well as how to create and present value-driven architectures of widely varying size and collaboration with the sales team you will drive customer outcomes innovation and revenue and service growth across a broad set of customers.

This SA leader will also represent AWS in the Retail and CPG industry at the CxO level with our customers and at industry events. The role will also act as the technical Executive Sponsor for top Retail & CPG customers to help accelerate their innovation and transformation journeys as well as their migrations to the cloud.

In this role you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will help team members ramp-up on AWS as well as develop speaking writing presentation and executive interaction skills. You will also need to be adept at interacting communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our services teams marketing and professional services as well as representing your team to executive management. This is a leader of leaders role which will lead the US based Retail and CPG Solutions Architecture Teams.


Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities will include thought leadership and driving value creation for our US Retail and CPG customers shaping technical solutions growing the team and leading specific customer engagement and interaction with technical leaders CXOs and entrepreneurs looking to build their business on AWS. You are a self-starter who is prepared to own define develop and execute a customer-outcome plan representing your team to executive management. You will also need to be adept at interacting communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our support services teams business development marketing partners and professional services

Hire and develop new Solution Architect Leaders from internal and external sources.
Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
Guide and motivate the development of industry solutions white-papers data sheets and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices to influence Retail & CPG customers.
This role is to lead the US Retail & CPG Solutions Architecture team and will cover customers across the entire US; expect moderate travel.
Act as a conduit and liaison between customers service engineering teams and support.


- 15 years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications
- 10 years management of technical customer facing resources
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or similar field
- Working knowledge of latest software development tools and methodologies.
- Experience working with Enterprise customers.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.

- Experience working within software development cloud and data architecture
- AI/ML for Customer journey and profiling
- History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises
- Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives IT Management and developers.
- AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
- Deep cloud industry knowledge

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $241200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
