More Specific Duties Include:
- Leads and support team members in machined components and casting related operations for the fabrication of turbine engine components. Coordinates with engineers and management on manufacturing improvements. Assures that parts and components are manufactured to production planning meet company quality and cost requirements.
- Conducts design/analysis assignments of turbine engine machined parts projects analysis of engineering problems and development of significant criteria to support the manufacturing design concepts and feasibility.
- Leads insourcing efforts from suppliers and internal cells to approve and review proposed engineering design changes and associated impact across machines and schedule.
- Collect first article inspection requirements for new part revisions to ensure design changes are implemented.
- Initiates scrap reduction efforts through improved tooling design written operator instructions and corrective action resolutions.
- Reports nonconforming parts via internal quality tracking system to monitor trends and recommend solutions to reoccurring discrepancies.
- Leads identification of quality escapes and isolation of suspect lots to implement corrective actions and updates to process instructions.
- Supervises machined components and machined castings work on complicated jobs to prepare for final fabrication and assembly.
- Reviews weekly performance metrics to determine machining schedules based on available human and capital resources.
- Presents monthly quality and part delivery status to executive management to demonstrate results of ongoing process improvement programs.
- Develops and supervises mill and lathe processes electrical discharge machining (EDM) grinding machining CNC laser machines conventional lathes and mills.
- Development of turbine engine machined parts engineering procedures and specifications relevant to engineering assignments. Advises other Engineering & Production personnel regarding test requirements procedures product specifications etc. Assists in the evaluation of results.
- Prepares layouts and/or makes calculations related to product design and analysis. Assists in preparation of engineering computer programs and evaluation of program output applicable to design assignments.
- Participates in the preparation of engineering proposals by compiling or providing technical data and drawings. Prepares and submits various reports related to the assignment.
- Assures employee compliance with the various computerized systems on the factory floor such as On-line Quality Reporting (OQR) Statistical Process Control (SPC) Factory Data Collection (FDC) and other similar programs.
- Evaluates and reviews engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing.
- Review and sign off as process specialist for new manufacturing process planning revisions based on the common operation procedures (process planning creation and control).
- Designs and improve tooling on siemens NX software to be used on the production of parts.
- Assures the work areas are free of safety hazards and employees are working with the proper PPE (glasses gloves etc.) as required by our procedures. Conducts safety audits.
- Knowledge in heat treatment process to improve materials microstructure and enhance its mechanical properties.
- Knowledge in sheet metal processing including hydroform press & metal spinning.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree (U.S. or Foreign) in Mechatronic Engineering or a Related Degree. 2 years of aerospace turbine engine experience. 2 years of design and cellular manufacturing processes engineering and quality systems. 2 years of SAP enterprise resource planning software Product Vision Database software NX 11 modeling software and Spin Cad 4
