We are seeking a skilled Fire Suppression Design Engineer to join our team in Harrison Ohio. The ideal candidate will specialize in designing special hazard fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems. This position offers opportunities for growth hands-on experience and professional development in the fire protection industry. We are hiring either a Junior or Senior Engineer based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design fire protection and life safety systems using AutoCAD and proprietary software ensuring compliance with local national and manufacturer standards
- Direct and guide contractors on proper system installation and operation
- Conduct site surveys to confirm accurate system design and installation
- Review and implement customer-supplied project specifications
- Participate in manufacturer training and ongoing professional development
- Create project-specific operation and maintenance manuals
- Update and maintain existing drawings and system documentation
- Support the engineering office staff with process improvement initiatives
- Assist with system inspections maintenance startups and commissioning as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience in the fire protection industry is required
- Previous experience as a Design Engineer
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting; knowledge of 3D design software is a plus
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Motivated to learn and stay current with industry standards
- Willingness to pursue NICET certification
Must-Have Skills:
- Design experience in special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D
- Applicants with only sprinkler (water-based) design experience will not be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field
- NICET certification
