As an IT Manager at Isthmus Engineering you will lead both day-to-day technology operations and long-term technology strategy. This role blends strategic planning with direct hands-on support ideal for someone who values action as much as vision. You will ensure reliable access to critical tools and data for our team while guiding us toward AI-enabled workflows and optimal resource alignment. The responsibilities of the position of IT Manager include:
- Provide leadership task management and development of IT support staff.
- Maintain and improve our technology infrastructureworkstations servers on premise and cloud data network cloud and security systems.
- Provide expert-level support and administration for our Microsoft 365 (M365) ecosystem.
- Ensure smooth performance of key software platforms: Bentley OpenRoads Designer Autodesk Civil 3D Bluebeam Revu Asana Bentley ProjectWise Esri ArcGIS and HydroCAD.
- Develop and manage external vendor relationships including our IT managed service provider.
- Develop and administer clear IT policies that balance security efficiency and continual process improvement.
- Support the use of Microsoft Copilot additional AI-enabled tools and emerging technology where they improve productivity and project delivery.
- Lead with a service mindsetsupporting our teams technology needs with patience and clarity.
- Maintain a strategic and responsive focus on ensuring our team has the resources and tools to do their jobs.
- Demonstrate operational discipline through clear documentation and scalable procedures.
- Manage internal IT functions and coordinate with other administrative and operational groups across the company.
- Administer the IT budget to ensure the effective use of resources.
- Develop and manage IT contingency plans to ensure secure operations.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- 7 years of IT leadership ideally in civil engineering AEC or consulting settings.
- Associate or bachelors degree in applicable field strongly preferred.
- Certifications in A and M365 preferred.
- Strong background in end-user support IT systems infrastructure cybersecurity and M365.
- Working knowledge of civil engineering and CAD support software preferred.

Workplace & Culture
- Work Style: Full-time (40 hours per week). Primarily in-person at our St. Paul office with flexibility as appropriate. This position requires capacity to be reachable and respond to occasional after-hours requests including evenings and weekends to address emergencies and meet business needs.
Compensation and Benefits
- The anticipated range for this position is $80000$115000/year. Actual compensation will be based upon experience education skill level and other factors.
