The Human Resources Operations Generalist provides administrative and operational support to the Department of Human Resources. Provides human resources (HR) information and support to a work unit regarding more than one HR functional area to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing. The position ensures efficient operations throughout the department maintains personnel files coordinates logistics and maintains data assists with development and maintenance of operational policies processes and procedures and serves as a representative of the department.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries (in person phone and email)
Manage front-desk operations including student staff scheduling and supervision
Maintain personnel records process HR transactions and support compliance audits
Administer FMLA Paid Parental Leave and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
Represent HR at campus events and contribute to policy and process improvement
Support onboarding/offboarding and maintain the HR office environment
Were looking for a detail-oriented service-minded professional with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of HR processes and compliance.

Hybrid work arrangements may be available. Primary work will be conducted on the UW-Milwaukee campus with remote work requests considered after the initial training period. Details will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience serving as a customer resource responding to both routine and complex inquiries
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
Knowledge of human resources policies and practices acquired through work experience or an educational program
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and other commonly used business productivity software
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in human resources business or a related field
Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (e.g. PeopleSoft Workday)
PHR or SPHR certification
Experience managing personnel and compliance records
Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment with sensitive and confidential information
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying employment laws regulations policies and guidelines
Target Salary Range
$55000 to $60000
