Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Solutions Architect to design implement and optimize cloud-based solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for our organization. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in cloud architecture with deep expertise in AWS services infrastructure design and DevOps practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable secure and cost-effective cloud solutions that align with business objectives. As a senior leader you will mentor junior architects drive technical innovation and ensure best practices in cloud adoption and digital transformation.
Technical Skills
Architecture Design & Strategy:
o Design and implement highly available scalable and secure AWS-based architectures for complex enterprise applications.
o Develop cloud strategies including hybrid multi-cloud and migration plans to meet business and technical requirements.
o Create architecture blueprints reference architectures and technical documentation aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
o Evaluate and recommend AWS services (e.g. EC2 Lambda RDS S3 VPC ECS EKS etc.) to optimize performance cost and scalability.
Solution Implementation:
o Lead end-to-end implementation of AWS solutions from proof-of-concept to production deployment.
o Configure and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation Terraform or AWS CDK.
o Implement serverless containerized and microservices-based architectures using AWS Lambda Fargate or Kubernetes (EKS).
Cloud Migration & Modernization:
o Plan and execute large-scale migrations from on-premises or legacy systems to AWS ensuring minimal downtime and risk.
o Refactor and modernize applications for cloud-native environments leveraging AWS services like Aurora DynamoDB or Redshift.
o Optimize workloads for cost performance and scalability using tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.
Security & Compliance:
o Design secure architectures with a focus on IAM policies encryption (KMS ACM) network security (VPC Security Groups) and compliance standards (e.g. GDPR HIPAA SOC).
o Implement monitoring and logging solutions using AWS CloudWatch CloudTrail and third-party tools to ensure security and compliance.
DevOps & Automation:
o Drive DevOps practices by integrating CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline CodeBuild CodeDeploy or Jenkins.
o Automate infrastructure provisioning configuration and deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
o Promote best practices for container orchestration (e.g. ECS EKS) and serverless workflows.
Leadership & Collaboration:
o Act as a technical leader mentoring junior architects and developers on AWS best practices and cloud design patterns.
o Collaborate with stakeholders including product managers developers and business leaders to align solutions with organizational goals.
o Present architectural proposals and solutions to C-level executives and technical teams.
Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
o Monitor and optimize system performance using AWS tools and third-party solutions.
o Troubleshoot complex issues related to scalability latency and reliability in production environments.
o Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement preventive measures.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
o Stay updated on the latest AWS services features and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
o Lead proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to evaluate new AWS technologies and their applicability to business use cases.
o Contribute to thought leadership through whitepapers blogs or presentations on cloud architecture
Nice-to-have skills
Experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g. AWS Azure or GCP).
Background in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF Zachman).
Familiarity with machine learning or AI workloads on AWS (e.g. SageMaker Comprehend Rekognition).
Experience with big data and analytics solutions (e.g. EMR Redshift Kinesis).
Knowledge of cost optimization strategies
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Experience:
o 10 years of experience in IT with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud architecture and solution design.
o Proven track record of designing and deploying large-scale enterprise-grade AWS solutions.
o Extensive experience with cloud migrations hybrid cloud setups and multi-region architectures.
Technical Skills:
o Deep expertise in AWS core services (e.g. EC2 S3 RDS Lambda VPC IAM Route 53 CloudFront etc.).
o Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation Terraform or AWS CDK.
o Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker Kubernetes ECS EKS) and serverless architectures.
o Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (e.g. AWS CodePipeline Jenkins Git).
o Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python Java Bash) for automation and integration.
o Expertise in networking concepts (VPC subnets VPN Direct Connect) and security best practices (IAM encryption compliance).
o Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. RDS DynamoDB Aurora Redshift) and data analytics services (e.g. Athena Glue QuickSight).
Certifications (preferred):
o AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional (mandatory for most senior roles).
o AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional or other specialty certifications (e.g. Security Advanced Networking).
o Certifications in related fields (e.g. Terraform Kubernetes TOGAF) are a plus.
Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address architectural challenges.
o Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
o Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
