2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR
Job Goal: Create and support a culture of community engagement and meaningful volunteer service in your school.
Qualifications:
Current/Active Somerville Public Schools employee
Commitment to volunteer engagement in support of student learning and wellness
Must be familiar with Google suite
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Principal educators counselors and school staff to identify volunteer opportunities in your school including remote opportunities;
Coordinate placement of in-person volunteers for weekly tutoring enrichment or other supports including remote tutoring and after school programs;
Maintain ongoing communications with the regular weekly volunteers matched at your school;
Using shared spreadsheet document volunteer data including remote volunteer tutors;
Collaborate with Principal and District Volunteer Coordinator to identify document and support existing community partner volunteer programs serving in your school;
Collaborate with Principal and District Volunteer Coordinator to develop systems for surveying educators for volunteer needs impact on student learning and sharing best practices for engaging volunteers in your school;
Collaborate with school-based Liaison PTA and District Volunteer Coordinator to promote volunteers and community service at your school through school newsletter appreciation volunteer spotlights and other school-based events.
