FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2 POST AWARD Biological Engineering to provide complex and diverse financial assistance on post-award sponsored research activities; perform financial management of fund and research accounts for faculty; monitor account activity and expenditures for compliance with sponsor guidelines and approved budgets; reconcile account statements and salary expense reports in accordance with the financial review and control process; prepare monthly projections; approve requests for payment travel expense reports and other accounting forms; review and approve invoices; process requisitions and review purchase order commitments; assist with preparing current and pending support; conduct monthly review of closing report; process account closeouts including compliance audits; oversee and maintain all financial documentation and electronic files; serve as a resource for lab members regarding MIT-related issues; and perform other duties as directed. This position involves making detailed decisions based on broad general guidelines.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of related financial accounting and grants management experience; self-motivation strong attention to detail customer service orientation strong interpersonal skills ease with telephone and in-person contacts strong analytical organizational and time management skills; proficiency with Excel and Word; discretion with sensitive/confidential information; willingness to assume new responsibilities as needed; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately; proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and ability to take initiative to implement and/or improve established financial processes in support of the operational area and handle large volumes of work on a daily basis despite many interruptions.
