We are currently seeking a Mechanical / Structural Designer / Draftsperson with a Mining materials handling background for a 23-month contract based in Thornton NSW. This role focuses concept development with an emphasis on investigative engineering of existing equipment conceptual design 3D modelling and structural calculations to modify and provide a workable solution.

Youll be supporting the early stages of several upcoming projects helping to shape the design approach identify engineering risks and validate system concepts.

Conveyance design and manufacture
Ore pass design and installation
Passive mooring systems oil and gas
Conveyor systems
FRP Projects
Labour Hire & Mine Maintenance

Responsibilities:

Conduct investigative engineering for new or modified materials handling systems
Develop conceptual layouts and models
Perform engineering calculations (loads forces material specs clearances etc.)
Assist in feasibility studies and early-stage design reviews
Liaise other engineering resources on technical requirements.
Contribute to preliminary documentation risk assessments and scope development as applicable.

About you:

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in materials handling design (mining bulk materials conveyors etc.)
Skilled in Inventor modelling & AutoCAD products.
Strong experience in concept design feasibility studies and investigative engineering
Ability to read and interpret (multi-disciplinary) technical documents and plans
Familiar with relevant Australian and Industry Standards.
Strong communication skills
Team player and able to develop and foster constructive relationships.
A can-do attitude with the drive to succeed.
Ability to work autonomously when required.
High-level of attention to detail
