Job Responsibilities:

The Manager Advanced Dental Education provides the primary staff support for six (6) advanced dental education disciplines (advanced education in general dentistry general practice residency dental anesthesiology oral medicine orofacial pain and operative dentistry) and four (4) review committees including: 1) developing policy reports and completing post-meeting follow-up; 2) preparing accreditation site visit reports and correspondence monitoring and processing accreditation applications and program reports and providing related responses and general correspondence; 3) maintaining current accurate accreditation documents templates and files ensuring electronic records are up to date and public information is available on the Commissions website; 4) overseeing site visits in the assigned disciplines; 5) formulating and implementing polices related to dental education; 6) utilizing research and Commission policy to make appropriate decisions; 7) serving as staff secretary for the four review committees and other committees as assigned; 8) serving as a liaison and resource to other agencies; 9) providing continuity and consistency in understanding interpreting and applying Commission policies and standards necessary to act as a resource for programs site visitors and Commission volunteers; and 10) maintaining site visitor documents and developing and providing training and information to CODA volunteers. This position staffs several accreditation site visits each year and writes site visit addition this position researches information and participates in the development of reports for the CODA. This position also works with the other managers to plan and coordinate site visitor training and provides consultation to programs preparing for their site visits. The manager is required to be trained annually in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance policies and procedures. The manager has access to protected health information (PHI) on site visits in self-studies and in progress reports.

Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or related field
  • Supervisory experience managing staff
  • Effective report writing tracking details managing large volumes of information effective communication with and management of groups and/or committees experience working in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication interpersonal analytical creative problem solving organizational project management and time management skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement in decision-making work independently to manage several projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Prioritize and execute accurate and complete work products with limited supervision
  • Analyze complex issues and apply relevant policies analyze causes and synthesize related to information to formulate strategies for enhancing the accreditation process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) Databases websites Adobe Acrobat SharePoint or other web-based document retention and meeting platforms
  • Evening and weekend work may be necessary while traveling for CODA to attend national meetings and to participate in CODA or committee meetings and site visits
  • Travel may be required

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of dentistry
  • Public speaking skills
  • Experience working in a health care organization or educational institution that includes report writing/editing
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with accreditation
  • Familiarity with development of training materials and structure of workshops
  • Occupational experience with an accreditation agency preferably in the healthcare field
