The City of Los Angeles a global capital of innovation diversity and opportunity is conducting a confidential executive search for its next Fire Chief to lead the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) one of the largest and most respected fire service organizations in the nation.
With more than 3800 personnel 106 fire stations and an annual budget of $897 million the LAFD protects over 4 million residents across 464 square miles. The next Chief will lead at a time of transformation innovation and civic visibility shaping the future of a department known for its operational excellence resilience and community service.
Ideal Candidate
The next Fire Chief will be a seasoned fire service executive who brings:
- 10 years of command and executive-level leadership in a large complex fire service agency
- A track record of operational excellence community trust and strategic innovation
- Strong labor relations experience and a commitment to equity and accountability
- Executive presence and media fluency to represent the City during high-profile events and crises
- A Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is strongly preferred
