Job Description

COBOL Mainframe Programmer

Location: Madison WI (Remote with potential onsite 90% remote / 10% onsite as needed) Residency Requirement: Must be a Wisconsin resident or willing to relocate at own expense. Local candidates preferred. Interview Process: Onsite interviews required for local candidates Duration: Through 6/30/2026 with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance high-profile mainframe applications within the Child Care Child Welfare (CCCW) section.

  • Analyze code test and debug online and batch programs using COBOL DB2 XML and JCL.

  • Develop technical documentation including specifications flowcharts and diagrams.

  • Implement application changes enhancements and new modules with post-deployment support.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs and technical standards.

Required Skills
  • 10 years of COBOL mainframe development experience.

  • 10 years of hands-on experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Proven track record in customer service and relationship management within IT environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with .NET C# and SQL Server technologies.

  • Experience working in public-sector or welfare-related systems is a plus.
