About the role
Were looking for a skilled and motivated Data Science Engineer/Analyst to join our Power System Applications team within the Modelling & Engineering this role youll contribute to the development and enhancement of real-time analytics and machine learning solutions that support the operation and analysis of Australias electricity grid. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams to improve control room tools integrate diverse data sources and build intelligent systems that respond to power system events.
What you will be doing
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and automation scripts to support control room applications.
- Cleanse and transform historical and real-time data for machine learning model training and evaluation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate multiple data sources and build labelled datasets for power system event analysis.
- Contribute to the uplift of alarm management capabilities and other initiatives under the Operations Technology Program.
- Support testing and deployment of applications as well as creation of synthetic data in the Energy Management System (EMS) softwares digital twin simulation environment (DTS).
- Assist in maintaining a knowledge base of ML techniques mapped to Power System use cases and contribute to the internal analytics forums.
- Assist in maintaining commonly shared data structures such as the graph network format of power systems network topology and support the evolution of schemas such as shared Taxonomy and Ontology representations.
- Work closely with senior engineers and technical lead to ensure robust scalable and resilient data science solutions.
What you will bring to the role
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science Electrical Engineering Applied Mathematics or a related field.
- Experience with Python and relevant libraries for data science and machine learning.
- Understanding of electrical power systems and transmission networks (flexible).
- Familiarity with data cleansing feature engineering and model evaluation techniques.
- Ability to work with time-series data and correlate events across multiple systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to software development practices including version control and automated testing.
