OBJECTIVE:
CTE teachers help students explore and prepare for careers or technical occupations. They use various teaching methods to help students learn and develop skills related to a specific occupation or career. They demonstrate tasks techniques and tools used in an occupation.
Each CTE teacher prepares unit and lesson plans aligned with CTE content standards including outcomes-based goals and objectives instructional strategies that engage students in learning safety considerations industry-standard materials and equipment and appropriate student assessment techniques.
CTE provides students with career and academic skills as well as the soft skills needed for the modern workplace including critical thinking communication teamwork citizenship integrity ethical leadership research tools creativity and innovation.
*This position will participate in activities beyond the school day such as faculty meetings campus event nights before-school or after-school tutorials etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design and implement a relevant curriculum following the CTE Model Curriculum Standards.
- Instruct pathway courses for CTE pathway completion incorporating appropriate industry-recognized certifications and training and work toward achieving the high-quality elements of Career Technical Education.
- Instruct students in appropriate job-seeking and retention skills.
- Develop maintain and conduct required program advisory committee meetings.
- Serve as a liaison with business and industry actively placing and supervising students in part-time positions in community classrooms or cooperative education and providing related instruction as required.
- Assist in promoting regular programs and developing promotional materials to enhance community-wide awareness.
- Provide instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific occupational skills while accounting for individual differences in ability motivation and learning rates.
- Establish and maintain a suitable learning environment that promotes student growth skill mastery and ensures the safety of all students.
- Design implement monitor and review appropriate training plans for students accurately and promptly recording skill attainment.
- Guide students in making career-related decisions.
- Establish and maintain student/program files as required including follow-up survey information and placement records.
- Support the policies and programs of AAMA George Sanchez Charter and perform assigned duties consistent with school district or office policies regulations and procedures.
- Maintain professional competence by actively engaging in employer-directed in-service activities and similar opportunities provided to staff.
- Cooperatively engages in the professional evaluation process with the supervisor to ensure ongoing professional growth and competence.
- Effectively communicates with staff parents and agencies.
- Attend regular and special staff meetings and actively participate as a member of the educational team.
- Respond effectively to the input from and coordinate tasks with district/school personnel as required by assignment.
- Modify the traditional modes of delivering instructional services to accommodate an individuals disabilities reasonably.
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Tutor students on an individual basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Three (3) years of work experience or college-level education in the associated CTE industry such as Graphic Design & Illustration Computer Science Business & Industrial Science etc.
- Required: Bachelors Degree
- Preferred: TEA Certification
- Experience working with high school-age youth (minimum 4 years).
