Discover Impactful Work:
This position is crucial in steering our research and development endeavors in the cellular biomarker field using both conventional and spectral flow cytometry techniques to produce high-quality results. As an Associate Director you will oversee all aspects of management of laboratory operations at one or more sites departments or regions in global Labs. Ensure productivity efficiency and quality of the work are maintained and financial objectives of the business are achieved. Oversee the development and implementation of laboratory systems and processes. Ensure client deliverables and needs are met.
A Day in the Life:
- Develop strategy and lead execution for flow cytometry
- Lead and coordinate all flow cytometry-related sample analysis ensuring the highest level of quality in experimental design and data analysis. Develop and optimize multicolor flow cytometry panels for specific research needs including complex multi-parametric assays
- Operate maintain and troubleshoot conventional and spectral flow cytometry testing ensuring efficient performance and minimal downtime
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft and implement experiments providing expert advice on flow cytometry applications and techniques
- Train and mentor junior staff and researchers in flow cytometry methodologies and standard processes
- Stay current with advancements in flow cytometry technologies and applications integrating new techniques and innovations into the laboratory. Prepare and present detailed reports publications and presentations on research findings to internal and external collaborators
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards related to flow cytometry operations
- Oversees the daily operations in the laboratory to ensure compliance with company SOPs policies and client timelines and deliverables. Directs work responsibilities of laboratory managers/group leaders/research scientists. Provides mentorship guidance and development to laboratory management and research & development team.
- Interacts extensively with sponsors and internal laboratory/support management/research scientists to ensure client deliverables and needs are met.
- Procures and allocates personnel analytical instrumentation Information Technology space and other resources to appropriate areas based on business need.
- Supports laboratory department in method/instrumentation troubleshooting laboratory investigations and internal/external conflict resolution.
- Collaborates globally to foster cooperation and understanding among the different functional groups within the division. Oversees the development and implementation of laboratory systems and processes.
Education and Experience:
Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education training & experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Immunology Cell Biology Biochemistry or a related field with a strong focus on flow cytometry
- A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in both conventional and spectral flow cytometry
- Deep understanding of flow cytometry principles including cell sorting multicolor panel design and spectral unmixing
- Proficiency with flow cytometry software (e.g. FlowJo FCS Express Cytobank OMIQ) for data analysis and interpretation
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and maintaining flow cytometry equipment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights
- Thorough knowledge of GMP GCP or GLP
- In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory science ICH guidelines FDA regulations concerning clinical labs processes in drug development process method development method validation R&D sample production and/or data processing
- Strong leadership skills including budgeting forecasting and fiscal management
- Project and time management skills
