SUMMARY:

Assists with the facilitation of preschool programming. Reports to the Preschool Program Manager and supervises the implementation of a developmentally appropriate preschool program. Supervision and evaluation of preschool staff. Supports a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth while making sure an effective rapport is established with students families staff members and outside community agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide childcare services for children in a preschool classroom environment
  • Assist with preparation and processing of rosters and staff files for all programs
  • Supervise preschool facilitators and Aides on a daily basis
  • Supports and reinforces the goals of the preschool program including curriculum planning and development
  • Assist with the supervision collaboration delegation and shared leadership
  • Support the successful implementmentation of a marketing campaign regarding the preschool programming
  • Supervise discipline and evaluate staff work performance and skills
  • Participates in IEPs as requested
  • Complete yearly inventory of supplies and materials
  • Participates in staff-development and professional development activities
  • Manage parent complaints concerning program and staff issues
  • Promote preschool program offerings to the community and district personnel
  • Prepare and assist with the planning of activities and securing substitutes for absences
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students employees community members and vendors
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Preschool Coordinator will be 21 years or older and have a minimum of 12 months of child care experience a high school or high school equivalency diploma AND:

  • Three credit hours or more in early childhood child development or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university OR
    • At least 30 actual hours of instruction provided in conferences seminars lectures or workshops in early childhood child development or a closely-related field; AND
  • At least 12 months of child care experience AND An N.A.C. C.D.A. or C.C.P. credential; OR
    • At least 24 credit hours from an accredited college or university including at least six credit hours in early childhood child development or a closely-related field; AND
  • At least six months of child care experience and an associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood child development or a closely-related field; OR

At least three months of child care experience and a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood child development or a closely-related field

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid CPR First Aid certification
  • Valid Food Handler Card
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
  • Provide negative tuberculosis skin test results

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Supervisory principles practices and techniques

  • Standard practices methods and materials of assigned work

  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws codes regulations and standards (based on assignment)
  • Providing customer service
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching standing walking fingering grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light work.

Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor school environment however outdoor work is sometimes required.
