This is a remote position.
Our client Hightouch is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Events Team scaling event collection and identity resolution services to process millions of requests per second with near-zero downtime. This role involves solving complex distributed systems challenges optimizing performance and leading a team of 5 high-caliber engineers with significant autonomy. The position is remote (North America US or Canada) with visa sponsorship available (H-1B transfers green card applications after 18 months). Our client is hiring through Paraform with Oath Services as a recruitment partner.
Lead a team of 5 engineers to scale event and message streaming services with high throughput and low latency.
Architect and optimize distributed systems ensuring zero tolerance for message loss.
Collaborate with product and design teams on customer-focused features.
Hire and mentor talented software engineers fostering technical excellence and autonomy.
Drive architecture discussions and make pragmatic decisions in unstructured fast-moving environments.
Experience: 5 12 years as a backend or full-stack software engineer with 1 3 years as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead managing 5 engineers (non-ML roles). Staff/principal-level tech leads with 1 2 years of leadership in startups are considered.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field from a top university (e.g. Waterloo Stanford Berkeley IIT CMU).
Hard Skills: Expertise in distributed systems system architecture and performance optimization. Experience with high-throughput systems (measured in transactions/messages per second). Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka SQS Kinesis PubSub) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication to clarify complex problems low ego flexibility in organic environments and genuine interest in our client s mission to empower data activation.
Startup Experience: Significant time at a high-growth startup (<400 employees) during scaling phases (pre-IPO or early growth). Big tech experience acceptable if not dominant (>50% of resume) and not the most recent role.
Bonus: Experience scaling event/data streaming engines (terabytes daily).
Salary: $220000 $280000 (cash excludes equity).
Equity: ISO options.
