Whats the role

Were looking for aManager Model Riskto join our team in a newly created role. Model Risk is responsible for independently validating models across Westpac Group and supporting second line of defence activities. Youll lead validation projects for retail and non-retail credit risk models including IRB scorecards provisioning stress testing and economic capital and play a key role in upcoming changes including those introduced by Basel III.

Youll present validation outcomes to model owners committees and senior stakeholders while also contributing to process improvements and coaching junior team members.

Youll take ownership of validation projects manage internal stakeholders and help strengthen our model risk infrastructure.

This is a fulltime 12-month fixed term role based in Sydney with flexible hybrid working arrangements available.

What do I need

Were looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience in credit risk modelling or model validation including IRB provisioning and scorecards; familiarity with stress testing and economic capital is a plus
  • Strong academic background in actuarial statistics econometrics or a related quantitative discipline
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts and influence stakeholders across all levels
  • Advanced skills in SAS R SQL Excel and Word; familiarity with Python Git Jupyter or Spark is an advantage
  • Proven ability to lead validation projects coach others and contribute to process improvements
  • A proactive mindset with strong delivery focus and relationship-building skills
