This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Krmn line the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists technicians and engineers you will design develop and verify high-performance avionics power systems hardware for various flight vehicles. You will be integrated with our rocket program and technical leads to help drive requirements definition modeling analysis design test and production release of on-vehicle launch flight and power management components and sub-systems. Your responsibilities will encompass electronic requirements architecture concepts detailed design development and test. In addition you will follow avionics designs through formal verification environmental qualification release and participate in flight support activities. The New Shepard Power Systems team is responsible for the electrical power avionics on the vehicles which includes batteries power distribution circuits and battery management systems.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • High-speed digital analog and/or mixed-signal circuit design build and troubleshooting with a strong understanding of EE principles
  • Circuit analysis and simulation such as worst-case circuit analysis signal integrity analysis and logic or P-Spice simulation
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • Battery-based power systems including power management power switching charging battery management systems and battery safety
  • Background developing sophisticated circuit cards consumer electronics wireless devices or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering Physics or related field
  • 2 proven years experience in the design of complex hardware
  • Desire to work hands-on both independently and as part of a team throughout the design verification qualification and production phases of the electronic product lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering Physics or related subject areas.
  • 5 years proven experience in design development integration test and operation of Avionics systems or vehicles
  • Proven experience specifying and crafting high reliability safety-critical electronics; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610 DO-254 and similar standards
  • Background with launch vehicle hardware development integration and test
  • Experience developing battery-based power systems
  • Proficiency with scripted languages such as Python


Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $104015.00-$145620.30
