Role Summary:
The SEL Specialist will play a key role in fostering a school culture that prioritizes social skills development positive discipline and emotional well-being for all students.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support a culture of explicitly teaching social skills social thinking and positive discipline
Collaborate with parents teachers counselors and administrators to assess student needs and develop support plans
Serve on PBIS EST 504 and crisis response teams
Coach teachers in implementing social thinking and collaborative problem-solving strategies
Work directly with students 1:1 or in small groups on de-escalation self-regulation and social thinking skills
Support district-wide social-emotional learning initiatives
Facilitate professional learning opportunities for faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of exemplary teaching experience across multiple grade levels
Evidence of teacher leadership or coaching experience
Training or willingness to train in SEL programs such as Second Step Collaborative Problem Solving Crisis Prevention and Intervention Zones of Regulation and Social Thinking
Masters Degree preferred
Salary Information:
This is a full-time position covered under the MVEA Collective Bargaining Agreement compensated according to the teacher salary grid.
