Job Description

The City of Topeka is seeking an experienced construction professional to join its Construction Inspection team as an Engineering Technician I. This is a technical position that is responsible for construction surveying interpreting plans and specifications documenting construction activities and other related engineering work.

What youll do:

  • Inspect new construction renovation and repair work for quality materials and workmanship to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain construction progress reports and material testing documentation.
  • Read and interpret construction plans blueprints maps legal descriptions and exhibits.
  • Perform soil concrete asphalt utility and a variety of other materials testing in both a field and laboratory setting.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is relationship-driven with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Has knowledge of the construction industry to include construction standards related ordinances and common materials and tools.
  • Understands the principles of engineering drafting.
  • Has an aptitude for technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Rate of Pay: $19.26 - $20.16 per hour depending on qualifications
