Job Description
Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) VA 23708 and associated Branch Medical Clinics (BMC) and TRICARE Prime Clinics (TPC) within a 40-mile radius.
Primary duty station will be NMCP or Sewells Point Branch Medical Clinic. No telework permitted.
Schedule: - Day Shift:(15 shifts/week) - Evening Shift:(5 shifts/week)
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited JRCERT or COE Radiologic Technology program
- Experience: Must meet Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements including:
- Minimum 40 supervised mammograms during training
- Minimum 200 mammograms in the past 24 months
- Completion of 15 hours of mammography-specific continuing education within the past 36 months
- Must maintain compliance with 21 CFR 900.12 experience and training standards
- License/Certification: BLS; ARRT (R) certification and advanced certification in Mammography (M)
- References: Provide 2 recommendation letters from the past 2 years verifying clinical and interpersonal skills. one from a radiologist or supervisory technologist and one from a healthcare peer or administrator. Each must include the referees name title contact info date and signature.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine screening and diagnostic mammograms including Standard 2D and 3D tomosynthesis exams Stereotactic-guided ultrasound-guided and wire localization procedures
- Support interventional breast procedures including biopsies and specimen radiographs
- Prepare and position patients provide exam explanations and ensure patient comfort and dignity
- Maintain and document quality control and assurance in compliance with MQSA FDA ACR and DHA standards
- Perform daily warm-up calibration and maintenance of mammography equipment
- Document exams and clinical notes in MHS Genesis and ensure timely image transfer to PACS
- Assist with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling supply management and patient flow coordination
- Monitor and track continuing education procedure volume and quality metrics
- Maintain infection control safety and privacy standards in accordance with federal regulations
