Job Description

Job Title: Radiographic Technologist (Vascular-Interventional Radiographer)

Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) VA 23708 and associated Branch Medical Clinics (BMC) and TRICARE Prime Clinics (TPC) within a 40-mile radius.

Primary duty station will be NMCP or Sewells Point Branch Medical Clinic. No telework permitted.

Work Schedule:

Weekdays: Day Shift:(20 shifts/week); Evening Shift:(10 shifts/week); Night Shift:(5 shifts/week)

Weekends: Day Shift:; Night Shift:(4 shifts/week total)

Holiday Coverage: 22 shifts/year - Call-Back: Within 60 minutes; 2-hour minimum Shifts; On-Call and Call-Back coverage including holidays and weekends

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited JRCERT or COE Radiologic Technology program
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 3 years performing interventional radiology procedures in a hospital or clinic. Experience must include vascular and/or non-vascular procedures.
  • License/Certification: BLS; ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R))
  • References: Provide 2 recommendation letters from the past 2 years verifying clinical and interpersonal skills. one from a radiologist or supervisory technologist and one from a healthcare peer or administrator. Each must include the referees name title contact info date and signature.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform vascular and non-vascular interventional radiographic procedures such as angiography fluoroscopy-guided biopsies drainages embolizations ablations and line placements
  • Operate and maintain specialized fluoroscopic and angiographic imaging systems
  • Monitor and assess patients before during and after procedures; assist with moderate sedation if required
  • Prepare sterile fields and support the procedural team in sterile techniques
  • Administer contrast media; monitor patients for adverse reactions
  • Log and transmit studies using MHS Genesis and PACS
  • Perform daily quality control (QC) checks crash cart reviews and equipment calibration
  • Respond promptly to emergency and trauma procedures when on-call
  • Maintain compliance with radiation safety protocols ACR Joint Commission and DHA standards
  • Participate in shift handovers inventory management and documentation of supply usage
