Job Title: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) VA 23708 and associated Branch Medical Clinics (BMC) and TRICARE Prime Clinics (TPC) within a 40-mile radius.

Primary duty station will be NMCP or Sewells Point Branch Medical Clinic. No telework permitted.

Work Schedule: - Weekdays: Day (0shifts/week) Evening (shifts/week) Night (shifts/week) - Weekends: Day (0) Night (); 4 shifts/week - Holidays: 22 shifts/year Day Evening Night Shifts; some weekends and holidays

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited JRCERT or COE Radiologic Technology program
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a CT technologist within the past 3 years in a hospital or outpatient setting. Experience must include operation of multi-slice CT scanners and contrast-enhanced studies. Training time does not count.
  • License/Certification: BLS; ARRT (R) certification in Radiologic Technology; Advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT)
  • References: Provide 2 recommendation letters from the past 2 years verifying clinical and interpersonal skills. one from a radiologist or supervisory technologist and one from a healthcare peer or administrator. Each must include the referees name title contact info date and signature.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all fixed and portable CT systems safely and independently
  • Perform a broad range of CT imaging procedures including Trauma head/neck/spine thorax abdomen/pelvis pediatrics and angiography.
  • Advanced studies: CT perfusion coronary CTA and CT-guided interventional procedures
  • Review clinical history prepare patients and verify physician orders
  • Initiate IV access and administer contrast per protocol; monitor for adverse reactions
  • Document procedures in MHS Genesis and transmit images via PACS
  • Perform daily scanner warm-up calibration and quality control (QC) checks
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide after-hours coverage as scheduled
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to optimize imaging protocols
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment follow infection control protocols and report equipment issues
  • Support administrative functions such as patient scheduling and documentation review
  • Participate in shift handoffs departmental huddles and continuing education efforts
