Job Description
Job Title: MRI Technologist
Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) VA 23708 and associated Branch Medical Clinics (BMC) and TRICARE Prime Clinics (TPC) within a 40-mile radius.
Primary duty station will be NMCP or Sewells Point Branch Medical Clinic. This is an on-site position requiring in-person service delivery. Telework is not permitted.
Work Schedule:
NMPS Schedule: Day (0); Evening (); Night ()
On-Call: Holidays and unscheduled shifts within 48 hrs - Call-Back: Within 60 minutes; 2-hour
Shifts at Sewells Point: Day (0); Evening ()
All Shifts: Day Evening Night Shifts On-Call Call-Back; up to 80 hours bi-weekly
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited JRCERT or COE Radiologic Technology program
- Experience: 2 years of experience within the last three years as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologist.
- License/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS); Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
- References: Provide 2 recommendation letters from the past 2 years verifying clinical and interpersonal skills. one from a radiologist or supervisory technologist and one from a healthcare peer or administrator. Each must include the referees name title contact info date and signature.
Responsibilities:
- Operate all models of MRI scanners
- Screen patients for MR safety allergies and contraindications
- Position and prepare patients including IV insertion and sedation support
- Conduct MRI exams including brain body breast cardiac orthopedic and vascular studies
- Collaborate with radiologists for scan protocol and adjustments
- Log transmit and QA images using MHS Genesis and PACS
- Participate in on-call rotations and Code Blue drills
- Maintain MRI suite cleanliness and safety standards
- Perform daily QC and maintenance; troubleshoot equipment issues
- Ensure compliance with ACR Joint Commission and hospital protocols
