Under the direction of the Director of Building Operations (or designee) performs a variety of preventive maintenance activities basic repairs and fixes for equipment structures and machines at the High School. Ensures that building systems (electrical HVAC plumbing) operate properly and reports major repair issues to the Building Operations Supervisor. Will travel and perform maintenance and duties as necessary throughout the District.
The employees schedule may flex for special events or projects and will also be required to be on call during certain times of the year. The employee may be used to respond to other maintenance needs outside of Rock Island High School as needed.
This position requires knowledge of a variety of general maintenance operations and functions. Testing is required with a passing score of at least 80%. |
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Conducts routine inspections of premises and equipment
Identifies receives and investigates all repair requests for High School and prioritizes and completes work orders for the building
Coordinates the maintenance duties with the custodian and building administrators
Diagnoses and corrects mechanical issues
Skilled with and utilizes a wide variety of hand tools
Oversees contractors when professional repairs are necessary
Performs preventive maintenance activities
Inspects and diagnoses HVAC issues
Ensures that the buildings remain in compliance with applicable building codes
Provides support to custodians as needed
Performs painting and makes flooring repairs as required
General plumbing troubleshoots maintains and repairs (toilets broken pipes sinks etc).
Electrical switches wiring testing and other minor electrical repairs
Required Education
High School Education or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
Plumbing Experience
Knowledge and Experience with HVAC systems.
Experience working in a school District and/or multiple buildings
Associates Degree from a Technical College
Certifications Licenses:

3-5 years maintenance experience
Experience with precision measuring
Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools
Experience performing routine and preventive maintenance activities

Ability to take apart machines equipment or devices to remove and replace defective parts
Ability to check blueprints repair manual or parts catalogs as necessary
