Help protect one of Floridas most vital resources water with a career at theSouthwest Florida Water Management District (District).

The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources minimize flood risks and ensure the publics water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.

Join our General Services Bureau

Support the Districts Management Services Division in helping us collect and deliver mail for District staff. Youll be part of a team that works behind the scenes to support the District and achieve our mission of protecting Floridas water resources. Youll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this promising position each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural will have the opportunity to assist with the Districts Inventory Center Print Shop and Document Imaging Team. The Mail Processing Specialist will pick up from the local Post Office daily as well as a minimum of three-day internal mail collection routes. This position will also serve as the primary back-up to the Records Management Technicianwhose primary duty includes the handling and lifting of record boxes up to 70 pounds. Using your expertise youll play an important role in enhancing the results to ensure a brighter future for the environment of Florida.

Starting Compensation:

$31616.00 - $33353.31

The starting salary range for the Business Process Technicianpositionreflects the minimum to 10% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Pick up and deliver all mail packages record boxes and miscellaneous items for District staff.
  • Retrieve deliver return and re-shelve record boxes from the Districts on-site Records Center.
  • Demonstrate and apply understanding of issues and best practices in the identified body of knowledge.
  • Use computerized business systems web-based data systems and other technology to complete work assignments.
  • Use data management collection and record filing systems to organize store and retrieve information.
  • Access review compile and analyze multiple sources of data and information to generate appropriate criteria for reports and presentations.
  • Compile data repositories from source materials such as business records quality control or test records time and attendance records or other forms.
  • Compile reports charts or graphs that describe and interpret findings or aid in data analysis. Participate in the publication of data or information to end users.
  • Process and document daily/routine business actions and requests according to established legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures; refer non-routine issues and problems to higher-level staff or supervisor.
  • Explain established procedures and practices in terms of customer needs and business results and goals. Make decisions according to standard operating procedures.
  • Track and report on work activities using calendars and in accordance with established processing time-frames.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be physically capable of routinely lifting boxes that weigh up to 70 pounds.
  • Must have a desire to deliver world-class service to internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable working on multiple diverse business processes on a daily basis.
  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to complete multiple daily tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to be on your feet for most of the day. Working outside for extended periods of time is required each day. The position requires the ability to continuously lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds and very frequently lift up to 70 pounds. Must be able to frequently bend and reach above shoulder level; with the occasional need to squat crawl or climb. Must be able to operate an automotive vehicle for two hours or more at a time and a gas cart. Bending and twisting while lifting is a requirement to perform this job. Must be a licensed driver in good standing. Work activity will be both indoors and outdoors in diverse weather conditions. Daily trips to the local Post Office using a District vehicle is required.

Required Credentials for Mail Processing Specialist

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) year related work experience
  • Valid drivers license

Preferred Credentials forMail Processing Specialist

  • Previous print shop experience specifically working with digital printers
  • Fork lift experience
  • Mail room experience
  • Experience scanning documents

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application.
