Key job responsibilities
Manage global trade payment operations to customs brokers and local country government authorities for taxes duties and fees due at the time of import
Support Kuipers customs brokers with necessary data to enable entry filing for Kuiper
Upload and maintain electronic import files in record retention repository for audit purposes
Review import documents for accuracy and completeness
Maintain Kuiper customs compliance work instructions and SOPs manage document revisions and support the continuous process improvement of Kuipers customs compliance program
Follow the customs compliance internal controls program to ensure compliance with foreign regulations governing imports
Keep and communicate metrics of imports including transit time compliance accuracy cost customs broker performance and relevant data for Kuipers leadership
Conduct self-assessments (compliance audits) and implement necessary corrective actions
Provide compliance training to new employees and cross-functional teams and keep training records
Collaborate with supply chain procurement finance tax and engineering functions as required

About the team
The Global Customs and Payments Analyst has the primary responsibility of ensuring Kuiper can continue to transact trade by enabling payments to our Customs Brokers and direct payments to local Government Authorities where possible. Reporting to the Global Customs Operations Manager the Analyst will promote the sustainability and longevity of Kuipers customs compliance program by developing and implementing guidelines and procedures for Electronic Data Interchange billing Purchase Order creation and coordinating activities involved in daily import transactions. The Analyst will help to manage global relationships and contracts with our Customs Brokers and will provide input to the Operations team on global import requirements such as harmonized tariff classifications country of origin determination product valuation reporting etc.
As a critical member of our Global Trade & Compliance Team the Analyst interfaces with internal and external customers customs brokers government officers and other functional areas to ensure compliance and coordination of imports and payments. The Global Customs and Payments Analyst will also identify improvement opportunities and assist with projects to support Global Trade & Compliance initiatives.
3 year of relevant experience with international payment of service providers duties taxes and fees.
3 years of relevant experience with engaging customs brokers and handling import transactions end to end from shipment start to entry filing and record maintenance.
3 years of relevant experience with advanced Excel and ability to interpret data.
3 years of relevant experience in industry and/or academia.
Experience with EDI billing set up and implementation
Basic Finance Accounting or International Tax experience
Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills.
Experience working in start-up mode building or supporting the compliance program from the ground up.
A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory learning new concepts and pushing your comfort zone.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $91800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $196300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
