Job Description

Position Description:

The Director of Compliance Assurance is responsible for planning implementing and monitoring programs and policies that support student access safety and regulatory compliance. This role ensures the districts adherence to federal and state regulations related to bullying prevention student transfers and school choice. In addition the Director of Compliance Assurance responds to parental concerns and fosters safe and supportive learning environments for all students.

Reports To:Executive Director of Advanced Study Academies

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Coordinates the implementation of all school choice programs including staff training and student recruitment within home and transfer zones.
  • Develop timelines protocols and documentation for admissions testing notifications and appeals.
  • Support families throughout the enrollment process.
  • Collect and analyze data to track trends and program effectiveness.
  • Promote equitable consistent admissions practices across schools.
  • Maintains and updates admissions policies criteria and procedures and recommends changes as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable local state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Coordinates academic and extraordinary student transfers.
  • Manages compliance and implementation of federal school choice and ACT 853 Choice programs.
  • Assists the districts Title IX Coordinator; conducts investigations and ensures compliance with all Title IX regulations and procedures.
  • Lead bullying investigations and training maintain electronic records of bullying and Title IX cases and monitor required documentation while supporting school site investigations.
  • Analyzes bullying data trends consults with schools and provides targeted training and resolution strategies.
  • Coordinates and leads parent and community engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitates parent concerns/complaints with the collaboration of school principals.
  • Respond to records inquiries handled by the Compliance Office.
  • Help manage online admissions systems.
  • Collaborate with Data Management to ensure accurate student coding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of ASA Magnet and Compliance.
  • Carries out other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief District Affairs Officer and/or the Chief District Affairs Officer.

Supervision Components:

  • Performs supervisory duties in alignment with district expectations.
  • Complies with Louisiana laws related to student education health safety and welfare.
  • Maintains communication with school staff and multidisciplinary teams to resolve or mediate family-school-district concerns.
  • Follow up with staff parents and administrators on matters affecting student well-being.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to design and implement support plans for schools and families.
  • Reviews drafts and recommends policies and programs that improve school climate and culture.
  • Participates in the development evaluation and implementation of district policies and procedures.
  • Promotes equity consistency and fairness in the application of policies.
  • Supports employee oversight through evaluations Intensive Assistance Plans and related personnel processes.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates professional development for school and district staff.
  • Sets goals aligned with district vision and uses data to assess progress and guide adjustments.
  • Collaborates on grant proposals and funding opportunities as needed.

Non-instructional and Other Components:

  • Participates in meetings and conferences related to student education health safety and welfare.
  • Attends Central Office department school board and committee meetings as needed.
  • Represents the department at school events such as back-to-school nights and open houses upon request.
  • Engages in professional development and training to support ongoing growth.
  • Adheres to all required deadlines and timelines.
  • Maintains accurate case records reports and documentation to ensure service continuity and program accountability.
  • Coordinates and facilitates school conferences with families and staff to address concerns and resolve barriers to student success.

Skills and Qualifications:

We seek detailed-oriented independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:

  • Masters Degree
  • Three (3) years site based experience and/or three (3) years successful teaching experience.
  • Proficient in electronic record management systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state education laws and regulations including Title IX IDEA FERPA and civil rights compliance.
  • Strong understanding of school choice magnet programs majority-to-minority transfers and related student assignment policies.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex investigations including bullying harassment discrimination and Title IX matters.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with parents students staff legal counsel and external agencies.
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior experience coordinating or implementing desegregation orders consent judgments or diversity/equity initiatives in K12 education.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in working with families facing challenging circumstances.
  • Experience working with school board policy grievance procedures and employee/student handbooks.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools to monitor trends (e.g. bullying discipline academic access).
  • Experience collaborating with community organizations compliance monitors legal teams and advocacy groups.

Physical Involvement:

Sitting is a required part of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
