Be part of shaping the future of rail in the heart of the North West

Were looking for a confident and capable Programme Manager to lead high impact rail infrastructure projects across the West of our network. Based in or around Greater Manchester youll also be a key presence in the region working closely with stakeholders within our Traincare Centres and operational teams to drive critical change that supports performance capacity and the introduction of new trains.

This is more than just a delivery role its a chance to take ownership of complex high profile programmes that directly impact the future of Northerns operations. Were after someone who can build strong relationships work collaboratively and manage delivery in a fast paced safety critical environment.

What youll be doing

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic infrastructure programmes including depot upgrades and platform related works.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Northern Network Rail and external suppliers.
  • Understand client requirements and develop clear structured delivery strategies.
  • Oversee resource planning risk management governance and reporting across your programme.
  • Manage project managers and support their development while maintaining a clear overview of progress and risks.
  • Ensure alignment with Northerns governance and Network Rails processes particularly around asset protection and engineering safety.

About you

  • Proven experience leading infrastructure or construction projects and/or programmes - rail experience is essential.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and confidence working with senior internal and external partners.
  • Deep understanding of depot or station environments rail safety standards and associated delivery processes desirable.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning problem solving and risk management capabilities.
  • Ideally qualified in project/programme management (e.g. PRINCE2 MSP).
  • Genuine collaborative and reliable - able to get the best out of others while working with integrity.
