Job Description

The Opportunity

  • Based at our Sunshine campus (with a possible move to our bespoke Caroline Springs site)
  • This opportunity is a fixed term part time (0.5 FTE) role 19 hrs per week/38 hrs per fortnight until 19 June 2026 (parental leave backfill position)
  • The role us classified under the Victorian Stand-Alone Community Health Centres Health Professionals Multi-Employer Agreement 2022-2026.

IPC Health have partnered with Western Health and the Royal Childrens Hospital to co-design and lead the Brimbank Melton Childrens Health and Wellbeing Local (Childrens Local).

The Childrens Local provides support for infants children and families delivering services such as psychology psychiatry allied health family supports and paediatricians. People with lived experience also form an important part of the Childrens Locals workforce. The service supports children aged 0-11 who are experiencing developmental behavioural or emotional challenges and their families and focuses on early intervention and providing age-appropriate care.

Occupational Therapists play an integral part in this service delivering family centred holistic and timely care within a multi-disciplinary team.

With your clinical expertise and experience in providing evidence-based assessment review and intervention you will engage with families who may be experiencing disadvantage or life challenges to achieve their wellbeing goals. You will be key to supporting families as they access services in the Childrens Local building the capacity of families the community other service providers and the Childrens Local team. With a continuous quality improvement focus you will be part of the continued development of the Childrens Local to improve social emotional and physical determinants of health of infants children and families in the Brimbank and Melton LGAs.

You will make a difference by

  • Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Brimbank Melton Childrens Health and Wellbeing Local (Childrens Local) to deliver family/client centred care.
  • Delivering services in a variety of locations including in the home community and site based and in variety of formats for example to individuals and groups and providing secondary consultation.
  • Providing evidence-based assessment review and intervention to enhance childrens functional capacity in daily living and engagement occupations.
  • Building the capacity of parents to play an active role in their childs development.
  • Being an active participant in the co-design implementation and continued development of Allied Health and overall model of the Childrens Local.

To succeed you will need

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Grade 2:
    • Minimum 2 years experience working in Paediatric Occupational Therapy.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based programs that meet the daily living and wellbeing goals for children.
  • Grade 1 (considered):
    • Some experience working in Paediatric Occupational Therapy (desirable not essential).
    • Emerging ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based programs that meet the daily living and wellbeing goals for children.
    • Willingness to learn and be supported by senior clinicians and colleagues.
    • Strong communication networking and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to competently develop implement and review evidence-based interventions.
    • Current and valid Victorian Working with Childrens Check drivers licence and AHPRA registration.
