High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Revenue Cycle Payment Specialist. The Revenue Cycle Payment Specialist is responsible for reviewing and posting all electronic and manual payments from insurance carriers and patients. The candidate will ensure accurate payment posting adjudications denials and refunds and interpret EOBs and ERAs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree or relevant certification preferred.
Experience and Training:
- Proven experience in insurance administration healthcare or a related field is advantageous.
Knowledge Skills Ability:
- Dental /Medical billing knowledge along with the ability to communicate with insurance companies healthcare providers and clients to gather and verify necessary information in order to complete payment processing. Excellent numerical accuracy and high attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Solid understanding of the full revenue cycle process is essential.
Essential Functions:
- Review and post electronic and manual payments from insurance carriers and patients.
- Post adjustments denials and refunds in accordance with payer guidelines and internal policies.
- Accurately interpret EOBs and ERAs identifying variances and escalating underpayments or rejections.
- Maintain zero backlogs and meet daily/weekly productivity targets.
- Communicate with internal billing teams regarding payment trends anomalies and payer behavior.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other federal and state regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies medical/dental billing terminology and payment posting best practices.
Accountability:
The Revenue Cycle Payment Specialist is directly answerable to the Credentialing Manager of HPU Health Oral Health Network. Their performance is evaluated based on the insurance payments entered daily to ensure operational efficiency and financial performance across HPU Health practice.
