Job Description

Job Overview:

This position provides professional support for human resource functions across the Montana Judicial Branch. The role involves work in recruitment onboarding personnel records ADA/FMLA guidance leave management Human Resource (HR) systems employee relations and compliance.

The position reports to the Director of Human Resources and Court Services and functions as part of a small statewide HR team serving district courts treatment courts youth probation offices and other judicial branch staff. Work is performed with a high degree of independence and discretion.

Special Information:

  • A criminal background check is required.
  • An employee new to the Judicial Branch will serve a one-year probationary period.

Job Duties:

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment: job postings interviews communication onboarding
  • Maintain confidential personnel records and manage data in the state HRIS system (SABHRS)
  • Provide guidance on ADA FMLA and other personnel policies to staff and managers
  • Manage leave tracking medical documentation and workers compensation claims
  • Respond to unemployment insurance claims
  • Support employee relations policy questions and HR process improvement
  • Develop training materials and lead new hire orientations
  • Compile and analyze HR reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in human resources personnel administration or a related field. A combination of relevant work history training and demonstrated skill will be considered.

  • Knowledge of HR policies employment law and standard human resource management practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Comfort working independently in a service-oriented environment.
