Under the direction of the Principal and the Coordinator of Special Education and Student Services the Employment Support Assistant provides support in the students alternate and employability skills development facilitates the inclusion of students within a workplace/alternate program responds to the students emotional and social needs acts as a team member of the school in any area which may directly assist the assigned student(s) or may contribute to their educational program as a whole; and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Description:
assists in the implementation of instructional programs as outlined by the Coordinator of Special Education and Student Services;
develops and supervises system wide application process using Google tools and extensions;
assists in completing all paperwork required for the work placement;
travels to High Schools to observe students who may be suitable for a work placement;
develops and assists OC transpo training packages;
provides direct in person student support while OC transpo training occurs;
undergoes all security screening process as required by the work placement site;
recommends accommodation(s) to work sites as required;
provides appropriate work site support for prospective employers to facilitate a successful training opportunity;
provides additional training outside the work placement to facilitate success in work placement ex. lifeskills training problem solving conflict resolution email etiquette etc.;
maintains files;
establishes weekly schedules;
responds to students emotional and social needs;
motivates and helps assigned student(s) to complete daily assignments;
reinforces concepts and work flow previously taught;
reports concerns to the appropriate teacher-monitor and Administration; and
models how to advocate effectively and appropriately;
participates in staff meetings and discussions with other professionals as necessary;
provides support and reference to the Coordinator regarding individual programs for the assigned student(s);
and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
a secondary school diploma;
a 2 year Community college diploma in a related field ( SSW or a University Degree in a child related field of study);
2 years of related experience;
Individuals must possess a Drivers license vehicle and a willingness to travel;
proficient in MS Word Publisher Power Point Google Platform etc.;
excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
ability to establish a rapport with students; and
initiative and ability to work independently.
In addition the following will be considered an asset:
knowledge of PICS PECS ABA signing Braille;
CPR/First Aid CPI (NCI) and Diabetic Monitoring;
excellent oral and written communication skills;
Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Annual (or Hourly) Salary: $49117 to $52809
These are 10-month permanent positions with an annual salary range of $49117 to $52809. A comprehensive employee benefits package is also included Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
The start date is approximately September 2 2025.
