Position Summary:

The Student Employment Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the student employment program at Daemen University in collaboration with the Financial Aid Office. This role serves as a central point of contact for departments across campus to assess student employment needs approve and post job opportunities and ensure accurate and timely processing of student payroll. The Coordinator oversees student onboarding orientation and job-related performance issues while maintaining compliance with university policies and federal/state regulations. Additionally this position maintains key communication platforms supports unemployment claim processing and provides back-up support for non-student payroll operations. The role also contributes to various projects within the Employee Engagement department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the student employment program in partnership with the Financial Aid office.
  • Build a rapport with various University departments to understand student employment needs. Review approve and post student employment roles.
  • Receive and review student timesheets for errors/omissions and enter into ADP Workforce Now for hourly student payroll.
  • Complete and submit bi-weekly student payroll; create and run bi-weekly reports as required.
  • Maintain student employment procedures and policies. Oversee student job related discipline and assist with reassignments if necessary.
  • Update and maintain various means of communication with students (i.e. website student employment handbooks e-mail correspondence etc.).
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures related to student hiring and payroll.
  • Respond to unemployment claims for students and act as back-up for non-student unemployment claims.
  • Onboarding and orientation of students once hired to work for Daemen University.
  • Learn non-student payroll to serve as a back-up to Payroll Director.
  • Responsible for additional projects within Employee Engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in HR or related field
  • 1-2 years HR and/or Payroll experience; experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and software including Microsoft Office and HR/Payroll systems
  • Strong analytical skills and a process improvement mindset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with HR and payroll information
  • Must work cooperatively with a diverse constituency and strive to represent and promote the University and the department in a professional and favorable light

Total Compensation:

Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:

  • Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions or a copay plan.
