Conduct routine field visits to scout and evaluate both wild and cultivated bamboo stands.
Identify various bamboo species and assess their maturity health and harvesting potential.
Use GPS tools to map bamboo sites and maintain accurate geotagged data records.
Monitor the growth cycles and ecological status of bamboo in selected areas.
Work closely with local farmers traditional leaders landowners and forestry officials.
Foster long-term relationships with rural communities to promote sustainable bamboo harvesting practices.
Build and support farmer cooperatives in partnership with external NGOs and certification bodies.
Provide recommendations on sustainable harvesting and replanting techniques.
Support the implementation of certification standards such as Fairtrade and FSC.
Ensure compliance with environmental and ethical guidelines in bamboo sourcing.
Lead and coordinate multiple scouting teams (7 teams of 2 people each) across the operational zones.
Train field staff in bamboo identification data collection and field safety protocols.
Manage daily team operations and submit regular reports to senior project leads.
Maintain partnerships with key external organizations such as Fairtrade FSC INBAR and AgroEco.
Contribute to strategic planning sessions and sustainability workshops.
Provide field data and insights to inform program development and impact assessments.
Degree or diploma in Forestry Botany Agriculture Environmental Science or a related field.
At least 2 5 years of fieldwork experience in forestry agroforestry or sustainable agriculture.
Strong knowledge of bamboo species common in West Africa is highly desirable.
Proficient in using GPS devices mapping software and basic data analysis tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (local language proficiency is a plus).
Physically fit and comfortable working in rural and forested environments.
Valid motorbike license or proven experience operating a motorbike in off-road conditions.
Experience in forming or managing farmer cooperatives or producer groups.
Familiarity with international sustainability and certification programs (e.g. Fairtrade FSC).
Existing networks or working relationships with agricultural/environmental organizations in Ghana.
Strong organizational and team leadership capabilities.
