Area of focus: Grand Traverse County Area
Part-time: 15-20 hours/week (as agreed upon)
Additional Responsibilities for Grand Traverse YoungLives Coordinator:
1. Lead mentors and other volunteers
- Recruit train mobilize and retain mentors childcare and other volunteers.
- Supervise and evaluate volunteers in leadership development spiritual formation and ministry with adolescent parents.
- Meet regularly with the volunteer team for on-going training ministry planning and community building.
2. The Young Life 5 Cs
CONTACT WORK
- Create an effective contact work strategy to reach adolescent parents.
- Be active in all three levels of contact work (Seen and be seen talk with teen parents spend time with teen parents).
- Train and engage the team on effective contact work.
CLUB
- Plan and implement regular club meetings.
- Train and engage the team in leading club.
- Ensure that YoungLives health and safety policies are executed.
CAMPAIGNERS and Discipleship
- Create an effective discipleship strategy for adolescent parents.
- Train and engage your team in the discipleship of adolescent parents.
- Ensure that YoungLives health and safety policies are executed.
CAMP
- Partner with the Grand Traverse Young Life Area Director to plan and implement a summer and school season camping strategy for YoungLives.
- Set the example of passionately pursuing adolescent parents to attend camp.
- Highly encourage recruit and train mentors to attend camp.
- Recruit childcare workers for summer camp.
COMMITTEE
- Partner with the Grand Traverse Young Life Area Director to build a sub-committee for YoungLives.
- Regularly communicate with the local Grand Traverse Young Life area committee.
3. Young Life Area Staff
- Participate in the Grand Traverse Young Life staff community including taking advantage of opportunities for leadership and spiritual development.
- Represent YoungLives at area events and fundraisers (e.g. banquet golf outings etc) as directed by the Grand Traverse Young Life Area Director.
- Collaborate with Grand Traverse Young Life staff on the development of a diverse and equitable local ministry in an effort to create spaces of belonging for all kids.
4. Financial Management and Donor Development
- Impart vision for the YoungLives ministry to potential donors.
- Raise personal and ministry funds as determined by the supervisor.
- Learn and implement Relationship Centered Engagement process (Young Lifes fundraising model)
- Ensure that all Young Life financial policies and procedures are implemented.
- Partner with the Grand Traverse area director to create and implement a budget for YoungLives.
5. Administration
- Ensure the administrative requirements are handled with excellence and in a timely manner.
- Comply with volunteer management procedures concerning YoungLives volunteers.
6. Community Outreach
- Speak to and build relationships with community organizations (Thrive Single MOMM Munson local churches etc.) to communicate and publicize YoungLives.
YoungLives Coordinator
Summary: The YoungLives coordinator serves in accordance with the objectives policies and procedures established by mission leadership to develop and sustain YoungLives ministries in the respective areas.
Essential Duties:Spiritual Development Following Jesus includes prayer and spiritual disciplines fellowship growth and health and church relationships.
Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude retreat reflection prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding Gods Word.Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines in the context of active participation in a church community.Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the area is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.Leadership Development Equipping leaders committee and staff includes key volunteer care recruiting team building and training supervision and vision casting.
Meet with mentors childcare and other volunteer leaders on a regular basis.Assist in recruiting and training mentors childcare and other volunteers to build leadership teams that reflect the community.Attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned.Assist in training committee mentors childcare and other volunteers how to work effectively in teams.Model excellence in contact work club Campaigners and camping to mentors childcare and other volunteers.Train and lead a team of mentors childcare and other volunteers in developing a yearly ministry strategy.Resource Development Fueling the ministry includes events major donor care public relations (branding) and TDS team.
Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.Observe and learn principles to develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community including: principals pastors parents potential committee members and more as assigned by the area director.Learn to plan and execute area fundraising events under the direction of an area supervisor.Become a respected Young Life steward to the community for both kids and adults.Partner with respective area director to build a sub-committee for YoungLives.Regularly communicate and participate with the local Young Life committee.Develop relationships with schools teen parenting programs crisis pregnancy centers and other applicable community organizations.Direct Ministry Proclaiming and modeling includes contact work club Campaigners and camp.
Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.Lead a team to plan and implement a regular outreach meeting with excellence.Lead Campaigners meetings with excellence as assigned by the area director.Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for YoungLives.Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property other Young Life camp or in another position each summer as directed by supervisor.Ministry Support Taking care of business includes accounting administration communication (internal) data management and strategic plan.
Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours dress conduct and time management.Ensure that YoungLives health and safety policies are followed.Manage finances with stewardship accountability and transparency using the mission-wide applications.Maintain accurate information on kids leaders and donors for area records.Provide clear prompt appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry. Set yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives to reach every kid; review them on a regular basis.Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts experience and area needs.Accept both short and long-term assignments of projects.Training:Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate. Core Training phase one to be completed as a Staff AssociateAttend YoungLives trainings as directed by the YoungLives regional and/or divisional coordinator.Participation in missionwide staff conference every four years.Participation in additional training or experiences if deemed necessary (e.g. more urban exposure; Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) training).Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.Pursue continuing educational opportunities including graduate degrees.Education:College degree preferred.Completion of training as determined by supervisor.Qualifications Required For The Job:Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.Ability to clearly communicate Young Lifes mission and the vision for YoungLives.Understand the unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting teen moms.Proven relational skills with both adolescents and adults.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Self-motivated.Goal-oriented.Proven leadership skills.Ability to travel as the job requires.Required Experience:
