Job Description:

Department Overview:

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for building organizational capability in managing risk on a more integrated and comprehensive basis for the organization and for promoting a strong risk culture within TD. The team is accountable for the development and implementation of an enterprise risk management strategy governance policies and practices reporting and operating frameworks and operations associated with the Risk Management function.

TD applies the Three Lines of Defence model to risk management as defined in the Enterprise Risk Framework. As part of the second line of defence the ERM team assures the appropriate design implementation and/or execution of (applicable components of) the TD risk management framework. ERM collaborates with a broad network of business and risk management practitioners and other corporate functions in all jurisdictions where the Bank has business activities.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Enterprise Risk Management the Business Intelligence Specialist will operate in a forward deployed capacity to support implementation and execution of ERM programs and represent ERM on new initiatives across Risk Management. The Business Intelligence Specialist will ensure programs and processes are aligned and integrated with the Enterprise Risk Framework and other relevant frameworks.

Via the forward deployed model the Business Intelligence Specialist will lead and/or support the development and advancement of data management and visualization across ERM including:

  • Documenting the relationship of data across ERM program team in both current and future state and in the context of the Enterprise Governance Risk and Control program
  • Design and implement solutions using tools such as Power Platform Power Automate SharePoint etc. to collect store and manage data across ERM programs to support reporting and visualization needs across a variety of stakeholders
  • Develop new and advance existing ERM reports using modern visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau etc.)
  • Collaborate with ERMs 1B Data Steward(s) the Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) and related partners as needed to align with enterprise data standards
  • Implement solutions to enable execution of ERM operations including program refreshes day-to-day delivery of existing programs reporting routines and oversight and monitoring.
  • Support delivery of business-as-usual ERM activities (e.g. stakeholder communication assessment reporting etc.) during peak periods
  • Align to existing and future regulatory requirements as well as interpreting and monitoring changes to relevant regulations where ERM has primary oversight accountabilities.
  • The scope of these activities is enterprise-wide and includes interaction with stakeholders across Risk Management other Corporate Functions and all business segments including the US.

  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts to the Bank.
  • Identifies mitigates and reports on risk issues per enterprise policies / guidelines and ensures appropriate escalation processes are followed.
  • Works closely with key business leaders and reports to optimize TDBGs resources and leverage TDs operating model to maximize efficiency effectiveness and scale.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience developing data management solutions using Power Platform PowerApps Dataverse etc. is required
  • Experience migrating and/or developing new and existing reporting to visualization tools to solutions such as Power BI Tableau etc. is required
  • Development and implementation of new ERM programs including corresponding change management activities
  • Alignment with concurrent enterprise initiatives such as the Enterprise Governance Risk and Control (eGRC) program
  • Execution of ERM operations including annual refreshes delivery of existing programs reporting routines and oversight and monitoring to assess business adherence to ERM programs.
  • Alignment to existing and future regulatory requirements as well as interpreting and monitoring changes to relevant regulations where ERM has primary oversight accountabilities.
  • The scope of these activities is enterprise-wide and includes interaction with stakeholders across Risk Management other Corporate Functions and all business segments including the US.
  • Management of ERM plans timelines activities and deliverables interacting with stakeholders and the broader ERM team
  • Identification and problem resolution for program requirements issues and/or internal audit findings and non-compliance issues.
  • Engagement of stakeholders to take action serve as a source of expert advice influence change and frame information in a broader context.
  • Escalation of issues and concerns related to non-compliance as needed and work with the ERM team and/or stakeholders for resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to know your audience and communicate (written and verbal) and interact effectively with stakeholders and Leadership.
  • Strong collaborator with proven ability to engage influence and motivate a diverse group of stakeholders and drive results
  • Flexible and adaptable with robust organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Superior impact and influence skills coupled with the ability to navigate a complex matrix organization and the ability to instinctively engage others to achieve positive business outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks / issues and recommend solutions
  • Delivery of business-as-usual ERM activities (e.g. stakeholder communication assessment reporting etc.) during peak periods
  • Governance & Control and/or Risk Management experience
