Job Description

Position Title: Substitute Assignment Monitor

Reports to: Building Principal or Principals designee

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month staff - 184 days. Class A with benefits according to the LEA Unit D collective bargaining agreement.

37.5 hours per week. $32.40 - $40.47 per hour.

This is to cover a leave of absence for the 2025-2026 school year only.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position serves as a substitute teacher covering classrooms as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Provides classroom coverage for teachers who are absent
  • Manages classroom and students and instructs on assignments to be done
  • Coordinates with teachers on assignments
  • Communicate with administration on assignment of substitutes
  • Enters information into student and staff databases
  • Uses technology to instruct students
  • Performs similar or related work as required.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain confidentiality
  2. Relationships are primarily with co-workers and students involving frequent explanation discussion and instruction. More than ordinary courtesy tact and diplomacy is required.
  3. The work consists of a variety of duties which generally follow standardized practices procedures regulations or guidelines. The sequence of work and/or the procedures followed vary according to the nature of the assignments.
  4. Present and communicate in a professional manner.
  5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Under general direction employee plans and prioritizes the majority of work independently in accordance with standard practices. Employee is expected to solve most problems of detail or unusual situations by adapting methods or interpreting instructions accordingly. Instructions for new assignments or special projects usually consist of statements of desired objectives deadlines and priorities. Technical and policy problems or changes in procedures are discussed with supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent and one to two years of experience.


Knowledge of classroom management and instruction.

Ability to communicate effectively with teachers and students.

Skill in presenting information clearly to students with different learning abilities. Ability to use technology.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
