Job Summary

MGB Sports Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I for studies with adolescents and adults with musculoskeletal conditions. This individual will be an integral member of the research team in compliance with all regulatory institutional and departmental requirements. This person will participate in all research study related activities and quality assurance of data for the projects that will come out of MGB Sports. They will play an integral role in day-to-day research activities and patient coordination; ensuring efficient operations and will have additional opportunities to gain clinical research experience at within MGB Sports Medicine.

MGB Sports Medicine has a number of clinical locations and the Clinical Research Coordinator I would be expected to be onsite in Wellesley three days per week and Foxborough two days per week.



Qualifications

The Clinical Research Coordinator I will assist MGB Sports Medicine researchers with a range of study tasks. Responsibilities will include: recruitment and enrollment data collection and management processing biological specimens management of IRB-related documents providing assistance to patients and their caregivers literature searches and manuscript and grant submissions. The Clinical Research Coordinator I will gain valuable experience and knowledge working in all phases of the research process ranging from study design to analysis and interpretation of results. They will work alongside other Clinical Research Coordinators at MGB Sports Medicine through team research meetings trainings and presentations led by staff within MGB Sports Medicine and the larger MGB community.

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I with excellent interpersonal communication teamwork writing and organizational skills. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in medical settings and collecting patient data such as administering surveys or conducting interviews. We highly value experience and comfort of working with both adolescents and adults informal caregivers medical populations and individuals from a variety of different backgrounds. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Bachelors or Masters degrees and availability to work in-person are required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementation of research protocols including collection of: 1) surveys and clinical assessments; 2) clinical and biomarker-based assessments.
  • Recruit and gather data from participants patients and caregivers (in-person and by phone/Zoom)
  • Collaborate with providers in other hospital settings (e.g. nurses physicians)
  • Maintain records and databases (self-report activity and physiological sensors)
  • Administer surveys to parents through electronic survey (REDCap)
  • Obtain patient study data from electronic medical records
  • Conduct literature and library searches
  • Ensure compliance with federal and IRB regulations
  • Assist with IRB submissions amendments and continuing reviews
  • Assist with preparation of grant applications and manuscripts including data analyses literature searches and drafting of texts
  • Perform administrative support duties as required
  • Attend individual and team meetings

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

The candidate should: 1) be well-organized self-motivated and attentive to detail; 2) be able to multi-task problem-solve function in a fast-paced environment and manage time/workload with minimal supervision; 3) have excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with a multidisciplinary team and research participants; 4) have the ability to work independently take initiative and interact with clients and colleagues of multiple disciplines.

The Research Assistant should be proficient in using administrative software (Excel Word Access PowerPoint) Epic webpage development and electronic data capture systems (EDC).

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required. Preferred: in Biology Physiology or health-related field Psychology Gerontology Neuroscience or graduate degree in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. Prior health care or research experience preferred.
