Job Description

WHO WE ARE:

Annually serving over 1400 youth and families Lawrence Hall is a community-based organization committed to helping Chicagos youth families and communities heal from the adverse effects of childhood trauma. For more than 150 years Lawrence Hall has been delivering high-quality care throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and is a statewide leader in highly effective evidence-based and innovative therapeutic treatment. Their core programs-Child and Family Treatment Center Therapeutic Day School Creative Therapies Foster Care Transitional/Independent Living Program Workforce Development and Community Wellness-have met the changing and complex needs of youth and families by not only becoming more community based but also by developing more preventative programs that help curb violence in Chicagos communities.

Essential Functions Summary:

The Licensed Milieu Supervisor (LMS) provides leadership and clinical oversight to the residential treatment team ensuring the effective delivery of trauma-informed youth-centered and family-focused care. This role involves supervising key team members-such as the Case Manager Therapist and Unit Coordinator-while guiding and coaching staff in clinical practice milieu operations and treatment planning. The LMS contributes to strategic planning program development and ensures adherence to regulatory standards.

This position must be able to effectively use both verbal and physical intervention skills with individuals six (6) through twenty-one (21) years of age. Physical intervention skills require the ability to kneel and return to standing without assistance.

Essential Functions & Core Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide leadership to the core team including Case Manager Therapist and Unit Coordinator. Foster a positive trauma-informed culture emphasizing respect empowerment and collaboration. Co-chair weekly Core Team meetings and lead staff in integrating clinical feedback.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical interventions including trauma-informed therapies treatment modalities and youth-centered care.
  • Collaborate in both short-term and long-term strategic planning to improve residential services. Ensure that all programming treatment interventions and daily operations align with the agencys mission and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead group supervision sessions for the core team providing clinical guidance feedback and support. Oversee onboarding reflective supervision training and development for new staff.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Make recommendations for program improvements.
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation in line with agency DCFS Medicaid and other regulatory standards. Review and approve critical incident reports and client files.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends and lead initiatives to improve outcomes reduce incidents and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Participate in quality improvement activities including COA accreditation and licensing reviews.
  • Manage unit budget ensuring that program expenditures align with established parameters and financial forecasts.
  • In partnership with the Residential Clinical Manager and Residential Vice President evaluate staff performance facilitate reflective supervision recommend employment status changes and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Be available on-call to address emergencies or critical incidents and provide consultation to the team as needed.
  • Oversee safety protocols including fire drills and physical restraint procedures. Ensure that all safety logs and incident forms are completed and reviewed.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to staff in implementing trauma-informed evidence-based clinical interventions and treatment modalities.
  • Chair pre-admission and monthly treatment planning staffings ensuring alignment with Family First Act requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external contacts including regulatory agencies and referral sources to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Lead efforts to increase training compliance improve staff retention and address critical incidents.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of industry trends federal and state regulations and best practices in trauma-informed care and residential treatment.
  • Maintain flexibility to adjust work schedules based on program needs and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree with LCSW LCPC or Psychologist required.
  • Five years related experience and 3 plus years of progressive supervisory/administrative experience in the human services field.
  • Working knowledge of Illinois child welfare regulations
  • Requires the ability to provide quality leadership which promotes the effective and smooth operation of agencys services.
  • Requires well-developed management and written and oral communication and computer skills.
  • A clean driving record valid Illinois drivers license personal vehicle or access to a vehicle and proof of auto insurance.
  • No history of child abuse or neglect & ability to pass background and drug screen.

Work Schedule:

Required to work 1st shift (9:00 am-5:00 pm) three (3) days per week and prime shift (between 1:00 pm-12:00pm) two days per week as well as available for on-call related matters.

Work Environment:

The work may be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions to support positive youth development youth engagement and safety. Involves travel to various other location as needed. Use of technology and computer equipment. Schedule will require working varied shifts dependent on case needs (first second or third shift and weekends). The possibility of injury or secondary trauma is moderate to high.

All employees are required to complete and maintain certifications in all trainings relevant to their role. This position specifically mandates completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) with restraint training. Subsequent recertification is required every six months. Successful completion of these trainings is essential but equally important is the consistent application of these skills in daily work.

Compensation:

Compensation is determined by a set base salary for each position with additional compensation considered based on relevant education and experience. This position has a compensation range from $68300-$74300.
