Job Description:
This position is responsible for all aspects of company benefits programs including health insurance voluntary benefits leaves of absence and workers compensation. This position determines and manages eligibility and participation of leaves. It also compiles reports and communicates with department managers and vendors. This position plans and administers the annual open enrollment process and maintains and manages all company benefits documents. The focus of responsibility is health and welfare plan administration and to process and administer all types of leaves of absence.
This position also coordinates the Companys workers compensation program by receiving claims ensuring proper reporting follow-up care return to work job offers and acts as the liaison between stores injured workers and the Companys insurance carrier.
Job Duties:
Oversee all aspects of the Companys benefits programs including health insurance voluntary benefits including life STD LTD and Workers Compensation and wellness and reward programs.
Educates and promotes employees on company offered benefits family leave and Workers Compensation.
Manages leave of absence requests processes requests in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Aligns guidelines with company policy.
Ensures health benefit deductions for LOAs are paid and current.
Serves as the primary point of contact for the employees to answer questions and resolve issues related to their leave of absence and insurance benefits. Provides guidance and support regarding benefit enrollment and changes.
Maintains complete and accurate records and reports including benefit coverage deductions LOA and workers compensation trackers.
Maintains all third-party invoices submitting them accurately and timely to the accounting department for processing.
Works with Payroll department with payroll related tasks related to benefit deductions and time management.
Runs reports in the HR and Payroll system benefits system and the medical provider system.
Purchases in-store drug tests and coordinates drug testing
Supports training and certification process for food safety.
Work with Human Resources and leadership to continuously develop and maintain all benefit programs.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of all types of benefits leave of absences and Workers Compensation for California and Oregon.
Proven experience with handling Open Enrollment
Experience with ERISA COBRA HIPAA HSA and FSA accounts and the different types of leave including FMLA OFLA CFRA ACA and ADA
Ensure regulatory compliance of all company state and federal programs.
Strong written and verbal communication strong attention to detail organizational and analytical skills.
Interacts with all employees vendors and third parties with dignity and respect.
Advanced experience in relevant software and technology used within the company and position. Proficient in Microsoft Excel data maintenance and analysis reporting.
Manage sensitive information and always uphold confidentiality.
Ability to communicate and provide effective guidance at all levels of our company.
Working knowledge of HRIS and time keeping systems
Works closely with and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
