Job Description

The Director of Continuous Improvement leads the enterprise-wide continuous improvement strategy to drive documented savings enable sustainable operational improvements and build a culture of structured problem-solving. This works intimately with a remote team of Continuous Improvement Managers across multiple facilities and serves as a hands-on facilitator educator and coach ensuring alignment of continuous improvement efforts with company goals and values.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieves documented savings goals by leading impactful continuous improvement projects and enabling sustainable improvements across plant and service operations.
  • Builds organizational capacity to identify savings opportunities and solve problems at all levels.
  • Increases associate engagement in continuous improvement through influence education facilitation and cultural reinforcement.
  • Leads and develops a team of Continuous Improvement Managers to ensure effective aligned execution of savings initiatives across company facilities.
  • Promotes a practical values-driven approach to continuous improvement setting clear expectations and accountability.
  • Engages directly with frontline and leadership teams to embed continuous improvement practices into daily operations.
  • Prioritizes and manages a portfolio of initiatives focused on cost quality delivery and safety improvements.
  • Standardizes continuous improvement methodologies tools and metrics across the organization.
  • Leads enterprise programs such as kaizen events 8 Wastes 5S implementation and recognition systems.
  • Facilitate process mapping root cause analysis A3 problem solving and kaizen workshops.
  • Designs and delivers Lean training across all levels of the organization.
  • Coaches project leaders to ensure effective sustained and measurable results.
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs to track project outcomes and program maturity.
  • Communicates CI impact clearly and regularly through dashboards meetings and management meeting updates.
  • Collaborates with leaders to ensure alignment of continuous improvement initiatives with strategic objectives.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership mentoring facilitation and coaching skills in a multi-site environment.
  • Deep understanding of Lean principles DAMAIC and structured problem-solving.
  • Advanced facilitation skills with proven success leading kaizen events and team-based improvement initiatives.
  • Expertise in process mapping SMED error-proofing and visual management systems.
  • Teaches influences and engages associates at all levels in continuous improvement practices.
  • Financial and strategic acumen to prioritize initiatives and validate outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required; engineering operations or business focus preferred.
  • 10 years in Continuous Improvement Operations or Process Engineering roles.
  • Lean Certification or Six Sigma Black Belt (Master Black Belt preferred).
  • Experience leading continuous improvement across manufacturing logistics or service-based operations.
  • On-site role based in New Castle DE or Edison NJ or Beltsville MD.
  • Travel up to 40%.
