Job Summary
The Business Unit Accounting Lead will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Fully execute the month-end close process for the business unit including the preparation of journal entries accruals and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and/or review various analyses to identify unusual activity and ensure transactions are properly accounted for including account variance analyses balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses.
- Prepare monthly commission calculations.
- Play a key role in the integration of this business unit onto our corporate ERP platforms ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with our accounting systems and controls.
- Work closely with operations teams to understand their business needs and identify potential areas or issues with accounting implications.
- Work with external auditors ensuring audit requests are provided in a timely manner and support the financial statements.
- Address other ad hoc accounting items and projects as they arise demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proven ability to be proactive and self-starting in identifying and resolving issues with a track record of implementing process improvements and driving efficiencies.
- Must be detail-oriented individual
- Strong Excel skills including advanced functions such as pivot tables VLOOKUP and data analysis tools.
- Commitment to continuous process improvement.
- Proficiency in ERP systems financial reporting tools and Microsoft Excel. Prior experience in Eclipse a strong plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in accounting - CPA a plus.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ERP systems financial reporting tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience in Eclipse a strong plus
- Proficiency in Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word).
- Strong Excel skills including advanced functions such as pivot tables VLOOKUP and data analysis tools.
- Experience with Power BI Tableau or other analytical platforms a plus
Soft Skills:
- Commitment to continuous process improvement.
- Must be detail-oriented individual
Certifications:
- CPA a plus
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This full-time position requires approximately 40 hours per week and involves regular physical and sensory activity including:
- Bending lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Prolonged sitting (up to 8 hours) with intermittent standing and walking throughout the shift
- Continuous use of fingers hands and arms for computer and office-related tasks
- Frequent use of office equipment such as computers phones and scanners (up to 8 hours daily)
- Regular verbal communication via phone and in-person interactions (up to 6 hours daily)
