Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to help men and women overcome addiction and transform their life Do you want to use your talents in service of others that are seeking sobriety and a second chance Then we want you to join Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan as a Program Supervisor - Residential Treatment - Substance Use Disorder at Fahrman Center!

Fahrman Center is a 42-bed adult residential treatment facility that provides inpatient addictions services for men and women as well as restorative justice services for clients who are involved with various correctional entities. This role would oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the program to include program operations direct supervision of staff ensuring best practices and licensing/contractual requirements are met. The hours are generally 8am-4pm however may require flexibility to support the needs of the program.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.

  • Serves as a representative of the agency to internal and external customers regarding the work of programs and services.
  • Works as a collaborative team member to support the Continuum of Care model.
  • Participates in the compilation of an annual budget.
  • Oversees budget expenditures and makes necessary adjustments as needed to meet the financial goals of the program.
  • Ensures quality programming and service delivery through the use of best practice standards and contract/licensing requirements.
  • Identifies staff training needs to meet best practice standards and licensing/contract requirements.
  • Ensures staff is trained to meet identified standards.
  • Establishes priorities and directs the work of program staff to include delegating and overseeing work assignments. Conducts performance evaluations of staff.
  • Conduct case record reviews and case consultation as necessary.
  • May provide direct care and/or carry a case load.
  • Performs duties as outlined in the attached Business Unit specific addendum (if applicable).
  • Performs other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Selects trains assigns coaches and evaluates staff members.
  • Supports day-to-day functioning of the program staff to ensure timely implementation and quality of the agency goals and strategies.
  • Ensures communication and implementation of agency-wide policies and procedures to program staff.
  • Schedules and facilitates staff meetings on an ongoing basis.
  • Partners with program manager to respectfully address and resolve human capital issues including promotion coaching and other performance matters.
  • Ensures effective use of human capital to meet best practice standards as well as ensure individual and staff safety.
  • Acts as a role model for employees to exemplify how to be an LSS Employee of Choice.
  • Understands and communicates LSS mission vision values and best practice to staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Upon offer candidates must successfully complete the necessary background caregiver medical and any other checks required according to program requirements. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree in social work psychology sociology or closely related field and at least 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience in a similar role working in social services or closely related field is required. Experience should preferably include three years working with a similar population. Education and/or experience requirements may be dependent on licensing or contractual requirements. Supervisory experience is preferred. Bachelors degree in related field is preferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

The incumbent of this position must have a valid drivers license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.

Licensed as a Substance Abuse Counselor or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor strongly preferred Substance Abuse Counselor - In Training required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to communicate both in verbal and written format effectively and efficiently in job. Ability to read analyze and interpret general correspondence and paperwork. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from others.

COMPUTER SKILLS/TECHNOLOGY:

Working knowledge of computers to allow employee to access computer systems and applications to complete timecards read and respond to email and complete required on-line training. This position will require knowledge of the Microsoft Suite applications and be able to create documents presentations and spreadsheets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The job allows the employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort. The employee may be required to stand and /or walk for 8 hours or longer. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently (34% to 66% of the time) required to stand sit talk hear twist use fine manipulation/fingering. In addition the employee is occasionally (1% to 33% of the time) required to bend stoop kneel crouch reach above and below shoulder height grasp and handle objects. The worker is rarely (less than 1% of the time) required to pull /push up to 50 lbs operate foot controls. The employee may be required to lift up to 50 lbs rarely and up to 25 lbs occasionally.

While performing the duties of this job the worker is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand walk and sit and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Keyboarding is required for this position.

The incumbent of this position may work in both an office environment and the program(s) it oversees. Must be willing to work from multiple locations. The incumbent will also be exposed to outdoor weather conditions when traveling on company business.

May occasionally be exposed to chemical fumes such as paint and carpet cleaning. May enter clients dwellings or programs and be exposed to smoke and common household allergens such as dust mildew and pets.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TRAVEL: Position may travel daily locally and occasionally within State for required meetings. May include some overnights.
