Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of the Mechanic position at Lewis Services is to ensure the proper functioning maintenance and repair of vehicles equipment and machinery essential for utility vegetation management and to support tree trimming and line clearing operations for utilities and various other customers.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Some high school or equivalent and/or vocational and/or prior job experience in mechanical welding and/or hydraulics related to vehicles and machinery
- Understanding of all policies and procedures that apply to the Mechanic position
- Must have welding and/or mechanical knowledge
- Must read and understand tape measures diagrams and blueprints
- Valid drivers license CDL and medical certification as required for relevant vehicle operation
- Obtain and maintain company-provided CPR and First Aid certifications
- Obey state local and federal laws
Essential Responsibilities:
- Mount assemble and performance check all parts as directed by the Shop Supervisor
- Identify problems or malfunctions in vehicles or heavy equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and experience
- Perform preventative routine maintenance and inspection of equipment and machinery per Lewis Services policy and/or per manufacturers recommendations
- Perform necessary repairs replacements and adjustments to fix faulty components or systems such as changing fluids replacing parts and ensuring correct operation
- Responsible for quality of installation and repairs performed on Lewis Services vehicles and equipment
- Weld and flame-cut as required
- Utilize powered tools such as impact wrenches to drill and bolt various components onto mobile hydraulic equipment
- Utilize small and large manual hand tools to bolt and assemble various components onto mobile equipment
- Properly test equipment as required
- Keep informed of new equipment specifications standards practices and procedures
- Assist or operate dielectric test equipment
- Provide quality and timely workmanship on each work order performed
- Performs re-work as assigned
- Follows all established safety protocols
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace and work vehicle
- Safeguard colleagues and public from hazards in and around the working area
- Maintains daily time records on each job assigned
- Will furnish own hand tools as directed by Lewis Services Inc.
- Must be willing to frequently travel long distances which may include overnight stays
- Perform and assist with other related work as assigned
