About The Role:

Are you a passionate and progressive people leader excited to shape statutory and the strategic approaches to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community We are looking for an experienced leader to join our Engaged Community Division leading our Community Safety and Environmental Health teams.

About You:

You are a confident and experienced senior leader with a proven track record of leading people driving strategic and regulatory outcomes and operating effectively in complex stakeholder environments. You bring energy and purpose to your leadership along with sound judgement political acumen and a strong understanding of community safety (Australian Road Rules Dog and Cat Management relevant Acts and By-Laws) Environmental Health (Public Health Food and relevant Acts and By-Laws) or transferrable skills and knowledge aligned to these functions.

About Our Team:

Our Community Health and Safety Portfolio is made up of our Community Safety Team and our Environmental Health Team focused on meeting our statutory obligations that protect the safety and wellbeing of our community. This Portfolio is responsible for developing and maintaining systems policies procedures and strategic plans that support effective delivery of key functions including animal management parking by-laws public health and food safety. We advocate to Government and industry for best practice community health and safety outcomes and funding to support service delivery for our community. Our team also coordinates legislative enforcement processes to meet statutory requirements and represents the organisation in formal proceedings as appropriate.

The team is currently configured as just over 33 FTE.

Reporting to the General Manager Engaged Community this senior position will provide the strategic direction and lead the Community Health and Safety portfolio to ensure all related functions support the delivery of our Community Vision.

The Detail:

The position is offered on a full-time 5-year fixed term basis.

A current unprohibited Working with Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (Police check) must be maintained for the duration of the employment period in this prescribed position.
