Position Title: Database Specialist

Reports to: Data and Operations Manager Early Intervention Department

Service Area: Santa Fe NM

Employment Term: Full-time; Non-exempt position

Salary/Wage Range: Dependent upon qualifications and experience

Summary

The Early Intervention Department Database Specialist position supports the functions of a statewide early intervention program through duties which include but are not limited to: maintenance of Medicaid HIPAA and Part C compliant and audit-ready files maintaining all electronic and hard copy compliance documents in accordance to state and federal regulations providing quality analysis check/balance of systems executing timely purging keeping real-time open/close status. Recordkeeping at multiple levels is an essential function of this position. Examples of this record keeping are the continual updating of documentation systems related to Part C IDEA services processing department personnel records and tracking statewide organizational records. This position also provides support activities to the department supervisory team regarding state and federal service delivery compliance as well as program development. Additionally this position also requires interfacing by phone and e-mail with community stakeholders parents and referral agents. It is anticipated and expected that all functions of this position will be performed in a positive and receptive manner while helping to advance the mission and vision of New Mexico School for the Deaf.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Maintains all Part C OSEP compliant audit-ready statewide organizational records
  • Updates and extrapolates data from the assessment database for federal EHDI and HRSA reporting
  • Cross-trains on Data and Operations Manager duties that include but are not limited to data entry processing billing invoicing Medicaid/Navajo Nations tracking department activities and tracking expenses.
  • Provides quality analysis check/balance of systems
  • Supports office and statewide organizational needs
  • Supports compliant workflow by updating department forms and office procedures as needed

Position-Specific Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Masters degree preferred but not required. Minimum of a bachelors degree in business accounting or related field from a four-year College or University; or non-related degree(s) plus three to four years related experience and/or training.

    • American Sign Language: Proficiency in or willingness to learn American Sign Language required.

  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Physical Demands- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to drive for long periods of time; stand; walk and sit. Unless otherwise stated in this job description the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
