Assistant Client Accountant

Job Description Summary

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Assistant Client Accountant to join our Finance team in Birmingham. This role will provide essential support across day-to-day financial operations ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions maintaining records and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach and a strong foundation in finance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes
  • Supporting completion of service charge year ends cash reconciliations and budgets
  • Assisting with funding requests
  • Liaising with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve queries
  • Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns and audit support documentation
  • Assisting with VAT reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls
  • Providing general support to the wider finance team as required

Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Yardi Oracle or similar)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • AAT/accounting qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
